About Our Shop

Favorite Recent Comic Book: DC Comics' Green Lantern

Special Events: Gaming and artist appearances

Community Involvement: We support the local Boy Scouts.

What aspect of your store are you most proud of? We are still a comic store and comics are our main focus.

What do you do that is innovative within your store? We built and own our own building.

What has been your best in-store promotion? Gaming tournaments

What has been your best out-of-store or cross-promotion? Radio

What recent changes have you made to your store? We've added military merchandise.

How did you choose your store name? Since I have always loved books, I started out with Big Apple Books and the somewhat universal logo was of an apple with a worm coming out. As I moved into comics I changed to Big Apple Comics.

Big Apple's focus may be on comics, but gamers do not go home emptyhanded. Comics of all makes and models are here for the purchasing. Along with picking up current titles, readers can catch up on anything they missed courtesy of a copious back issue selection.

Big Apple utilizes its shelf space to great effect, giving the shop an orderly appearance. The aforementioned gaming tournaments held in the shop take place here. Owner Ed McCommon holds court at the counter.
