Gotham City Comes Alive As Never Before With Eaglemoss' DC Chess Collection Magazine

Chess, the game of kings. For comics fans, Eaglemoss has launched the DC Chess Collection Magazine, a series that gives chess players and comic book fans a stunning chess figure of a DC Comics character alongside a magazine about the character depicted by the figurine and the rules and strategies of chess.

Eaglemoss' set is based around the characters of DC Comics' Batman comics, with Batman and his allies as the White pieces and Batman's Rogues Gallery as the Black pieces. For the first DC Chess Collection special, Eaglemoss turns to one of the most popular and acclaimed miniseries of all time, Frank Miller's The Dark Knight Returns. The DC Chess Figurine Collection Magazine Special #1: The Dark Knight Returns — Batman and Joker 2-Piece Set (APR121365H, $38.00) includes opposing king pieces of Batman and the Joker as they appeared in Frank Miller's seminal work. These pieces are rendered in specially-formulated metalized resin and hand-painted by expert model makers, and they come with a special expanded 20-page magazine that examines the shared history of Gotham City's protector and his arch-nemesis. These kings can be displayed separately, or they can be used with Eaglemoss' DC Chess Collection.

Each figurine comes with a magazine that offers a wealth of information, including profiles of the characters, the rules of chess and the moves of the pieces about the chessboard, insight into Gotham City and its environs, and chess tactics and strategy. To store this colorful and informative magazines, Eaglemoss is offering the DC Chess Figurine Chess Collection Binder (APR121368H, $14.00). Each binder will hold 16 issues of the magazine in pristine condition, and serious collectors will want two binders to hold all 32 issues that will comprise the set.

Finally, in April Eaglemoss offers two additional pieces in the DC Chess Collection — Ra's al Ghul as the Black Bishop (APR121366H, $16.00) and Katana as the White Pawn (APR121367H, $16.00). As with all the pieces in this series, these pieces are cast in metallic resin then individually hand-painted and packed with a 16-page magazine on the character depicted, the piece itself, and the world of chess.

In April's PREVIEWS, Eaglemoss offers, in addition to two more pieces for the set, a two-piece special based on The Dark Knight Returns and a custom binder for collectors to store the magazines that come with each piece.
