Mike Mignola’s monstrous paranormal investigator comes to home theaters next week in Anchor Bay Entertainment’s Hellboy: Sword of Storms Animated Movie DVD (DEC064843J), firing up consumer enthusiasm for related merchandise from Dark Horse Comics!
Scheduled to ship February 7, the Hellboy: Sword of Storms DVD brings the excitement of Dark Horse’s Hellboy to life in a dynamic new medium. The disc features a slew of extras, including still & production art galleries, audio commentary, teaser trailers, numerous featurettes detailing the creation of both the comic series and the animated film, and much more.
Mignola’s hero first won over moviegoers in Sony Pictures’ 2004 Hellboy motion picture, directed by Guillermo del Toro and starring Ron Perlman as the beastly hero. Many of the principles involved in making that film a success reunited for this animated movie, which premiered in October on Cartoon Network. Revolution Studios, producers of the first Hellboy film, cooperated with IDT Entertainment in the design of the animated feature, with Mignola and del Toro serving as creative producers. Additionally, Perlman lends his vocal talents to the gravelly voiced Hellboy, and Selma Blair reprises her role as pyrokinetic Liz Sherman. Disney Animation veteran Tad Stones co-wrote (with Mignola) and co-directed (with Phil Weinstein) the Film Roman production, while Dark Horse Founder and President Mike Richardson served as one of the Executive Producers.
