POSITION: Buyer
DEPARTMENT: Purchasing
LOCATION: Alliance Midwest - Fort Wayne, Indiana
REPORTS TO: Vice President of Purchasing
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Buyer position is a full time, salary position, working Monday – Friday in the Warehouse offices.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Duties will include but are not limited to the following:
- Analyze sales patterns to create purchase orders for both new and existing items for lines assigned
- Manage inventory levels for both new and existing product
- Analyze processes and recommend improvements
- Maintain accurate and timely purchase order management
- Work with vendors to reduce lead times and ensure timely availability
- Provide adequate stock of goods to support distribution sales
- Maintain the inventory database and manage transfers
- Communicate with manufacturers, vendors, and internal customers via e-mail and telephone
- Research questions from several different areas in the company
- Set up new items in the purchasing/order system
- Work with the Accounting Department to verify that invoices match purchase orders and items received
- Attend trade shows
- Assist the Department when other Buyers are out of the office
- All other duties as assigned
EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
- Knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Excel, Word, Outlook, and the Internet is a must
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, are necessary
- Must have strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Strong organizational skills are essential
- Must have good time management skills and ability to prioritize tasks
- Ability to stay focused with limited supervision is a must
- Applicants must have an excellent attendance record and work ethic
