POSITION SUMMARY:

The General Manager is responsible for the operation of a busy distribution center.  Working closely with Alliance Game Distributors’ Vice-President of Operations, the General Manager will direct the effective and efficient operation of the warehouse, leading to a successful distribution center which fulfills the needs of the customers, maintains its profitability, and provides a safe work environment for all employees.

 

AREAS OF CONCENTRATION:

Leadership and Direction

  • Set the example for quality and quantity of work
  • Set the example for the working relationship of Alliance employees and customers
  • Ensure that the overall direction and focus are understood by all
  • Ensure that all employees communicate, coordinate, and cooperate
  • Participate in weekly operations meetings with other GMs to share knowledge, offer feedback, and engage with peers
  • Minimize order carry-over
  • Subscribe to, administer, and encourage the “Hands On” philosophy of Management
  • Understand and ensure profit maximization

 

Organization and Management

  • Organize the location and departments
  • Ensure that all duties and responsibilities are assigned and supervised
  • Ensure that the daily flow of work moves smoothly
  • Ensure that all departments work together to achieve common tasks
  • Ensure that any necessary external coordination is completed
  • Ensure that all employees are adequately supervised
  • Supervise departments heads and leads; ensure that all employees are held accountable for performance, attendance, conduct

 

Staffing and Training

  • Minimize employee turnover through proper staffing and training
  • Staff the location, and schedule employees appropriately to accommodate the needs of the location and the amount of business, re-evaluate on a daily or weekly basis as needed
  • Ensure that all employees are trained appropriately, and that training is documented accordingly
  • Develop employees for further responsibilities and positions
  • Cross train employees to achieve a flexible staff

 

Information and Reports

  • Gather and review all information necessary to judge the performance of the location
  • Use objective information to manage departments and individuals
  • Communicate the performance of the location, departments, and individuals
  • Ensure that all necessary reports are completed and received in a timely manner

 

Shipping and Receiving

  • Ensure that orders are picked, packed, and shipped correctly and in a timely manner
  • Maintain warehouse and product shelves
  • Ensure that incoming product is received and documented correctly
  • Maintain UPS computer and updates
  • Maintain the integrity of the physical location, computer system, and phone system
  • Coordinate with shippers for special shipments and negotiate applicable terms

 

Inventory Management

  • Ensure that incoming deliveries are checked in properly and in a timely manner
  • Ensure that incoming deliveries are received into the computer system in a proper and timely manner
  • Ensure that incoming deliveries are assigned the proper aisle and bin locations in a timely manner
  • Daily inventory audits
  • Ensure that discrepancies, damages, and defective product are reported in a timely manner

 

Administrative

  • Coordinates office supply needs
  • Oversees maintenance agreements for office equipment and materials, building safety items, and machinery and vehicles
  • Responsible for researching, activating, and completing special projects as needed
  • All other duties as assigned

 

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • High School Diploma required, college degree preferred
  • Previous warehouse management experience required
  • Working knowledge of MS Excel, Word and Outlook
  • Ability to learn proprietary software and programming
  • Professional appearance and demeanor
  • Strong organizational skills are a must
  • Strong leadership qualities are a must
